What To Wear

Senior Portraits:

In order to look your best for your Senior Portraits, I have a few ideas to keep in mind:

  • Bring plenty of different outfits. Make sure you include both casual and formal sets of clothing.
  • Remember - your face is the focal point of your portraits. Don't wear clothing that's so eye-catching that it distracts people from looking at you. Long sleeve shirts w/ solid colors or subtle prints work best.
  • Use medium to dark colors for dark backgrounds.
  • Use medium to light colors for light backgrounds.
  • Earth tones work best for outdoor portraits.
  • Don't forget matching socks and shoes for each outfit you bring!
  • Bring props for your portraits! They help demonstrate what you're interested in or what hobbies you have. Bring things like sun glasses, stuffed animals, hats, sports equipment, uniforms or even a musical instrument!

Family Portraits:

Solid colors and subtle patterns are the best. When you look at your portrait, you'll want to see faces and expressions, not flowers, stripes, and a busy pattern.

Try a theme for your family portraits. Casual theme: everyone in khaki and white, or denim and khaki or classic tones: burgandy, navy, and forest green.

Maybe even a contemporary look, of white and black on a white background. Everyone should be in the same color, preferably in sleeves that cover your elbow or below.

We all want our images to look good so, a little planning will make your portrait look the best and most cherished.
